Belgium is the sixth customer of French wines and spirit. In 2018, exports exceeded €600 million.

In this country, there is a quite strong differentiation of the consumers’ tastes between Flanders in the north and Wallonia in the south. French wines must face a very strong competition, on the one hand, from New World wines, but also from our European competitors, in particular Spain and Italy.

Despite this competition, French wines are still the reference on the Belgian market, thanks to the diversity of offered products and to the price segmentation . As regards spirits, the consumption suffered during the last years, in particular due to significant increase in excise duties.
