Australia is ranked as the fourteenth country importing French wines and spirits.
But France is the second supplier of Australia, behind its immediate neighbour, New-Zealand. Sparkling wines, in particular Champagne, are very successful.
If there is no particular obstacle on the Australian market, there is no bilateral trade agreement between the European Union and Australia yet, which shall facilitate exchanges between the two partners.
However, such agreement started to be negotiated in 2018 and would enable to improve the conditions for French (and European) wines to access the Australian market.
