WINES AND SPIRITS are an important part of the French economy and its international trade.
The industry is:
the biggest agribusiness exporter in France accounting for 20% of French agribusiness exports - considerably more than grains or dairy.
the biggest revenue generator for French agribusiness: €8 billion generated in 2008, €6.5 billion in 2009.
the second- or third-biggest revenue generator for the French economy, just behind aeronautics and neck and neck with the chemistry/perfumery industry.
